Hi Jane. First, thank you for reading and for sharing your story. In response to your questions, I respect and appreciate that every experience will likely be different. I don’t want to imply that I’ll have the best answer for every scenario. I just believe that many of the stories that I cited in my piece could have been avoided if they people calling the police 1) thought about the repercussions of their actions and 2) understood/cared that black and brown people have different experiences with police than white people. I hope that’s what you’ll walk away with as well. And thank you for not shooting the boys in your pool.
