I can see where you’re coming from, Lindz. The point here is not that you should never ever call the police (though some people I respect have made some good arguments for that). The point is that all white people (yes, all of us) should spend way more time reflecting on the ways in which are actions harm people of color. Often when people are calling the police, we are doing it because instinctively it feels like the right thing to do. And all I’m asking is that we check these instincts before we act because lives are on the line.
