In my piece, I cite about 7 or 8 stories of black people posing no threat whatsoever to anyone when the police were called. In the time since I wrote this, the police have also been called on black people for mowing lawns and selling water. I’m not sure how following the above steps, like minding your business or having a conversation with the person, could get someone killed. Are you really so afraid of your neighbors that you’d rather call the cops (which poses a threat to people of color — also a fact) than have a conversation?
